Seven Cakes and a View of Glasgow (Oil on canvas, 16 x 16 ins)
I've worked on this one off and on for some time and finally decided today to just have a good go at it and pull it together. I think it works now.
I'll be taking it to a meeting of the Painters Group on Saturday where I'm unsure of its reception. The tutor and several of the painters seemed to find the concept puzzling last time I showed it to them. I find
that puzzling.
Well they should enjoy looking at it - I have.
ReplyDeleteLiked the view. Hated the caked.
ReplyDeleteWhat I meant was it seemed like two paintings mashed together. There was an underlying narrative intrigue - what were those cakes doing there? But it wasn't resolved in the painitng. Am I taking this too seriously?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bridget!
ReplyDeleteGraham -- this is a serious business, so you're entitled to take it seriously. But perhaps what you're feeling is puzzled and I'll have to accept that puzzlement is a valid reaction.
ReplyDeleteDoes it help to know that the view of Glasgow is from the viewing deck of the Lighthouse and the cakes were in a Glasgow shop window?
Like it! A sweet perspective.
