I continue to refine this picture. People told me weeks ago that they liked it the way it was, but it's my picture and I know it's not quite there yet.
I enjoyed it's earlier version for what is was, but I do like the refinements a LOT. The brick building is wonderful, as is the pavement to the right. The subtle tones in the sky are really lovely to explore.
Sometimes I think it is when people say why they like a painting that it tips you off to what it is that isn't working for you (same as why they hate a painting and it reinforces why it is working). You know what I mean.
Welcome to my blog. I'm a professional artist working in oil, acrylic and drawing. I'm still very much a figurative painter aiming at some kind of modern representation. I believe in the continuing value of painting and follow in its long and honourable tradition.

I agree with all that. It's your work and you know when it's ready (or not).
I must admit I love your subject and the way you handle it. The urban and suburban landscape has always fascinated me.
Cor! - that green diagonal and the pedestrian reflections. That's all I'm saying
What is it with me? I'm losing it. I mean, of course, green horizontal.
