Seaside Cafe Nos 1 & 2

Seaside Cafe No.1 (Fortunes of War) - (Oil on canvas, 9 x 12 ins.)
Private Collection

Seaside Cafe No.2 (Due South) - (Oil on canvas, 9 x 12 ins.) £190

The cold weather, coupled with the failure of the Art Club's boiler meant that when I got there yesterday, the oldsters had decided that they couldn't take any more frozen bones and gone home.

Bolbec Hall Studio

In splendid isolation, I set to and finished off the two paintings of Brighton cafes

I've sat many a time in that first window. It's a great writing spot whatever the weather. I love it up there when they've got all the windows open, but also on dark and stormy Winter afternoons.

Annie - I wish I'd had time to go in, but we only had a day and so much to do.

Trevor - Welcome back! Sorry to hear you've been out of action. Hope all is well now.

I anticipate this series, which has a fine start. Your arches are recognizable, and I think a great visual device.

The little space heaters tell the story in the photo. And, since I am a man of the north, I see the reason for the sky light, too! Fun to get a peek at the club.

Thanks, Casey. It may be a short series, or perhaps an occasional series - I have only one more arch to deal with at present. I'll be on the lookout for more in the future.
