Editor's Choice

I mentioned recently that my painting, Wee Scotland Shop, had been chosen as Editor's Choice for the October issue of Leisure Painter. Here's a scan of the magazine entry.

Excellent work! It surprised me to see that it is square, because the effect is vertical. Nicely done.

Congratulations on the above.

Browsing your online portfolio I see that you and I share a liking for the square composition, a canvas proportion that can be surprisingly difficult to pull off successfully. I particularly like those works of Tyneside Harry. Lovely buttery paint and resonant colour. Beautiful.

Casey -- I see what you mean about the picture's verticality. It's one of the oddities of square compositions that they can take on apparently different shapes, depending on the emphasis of the composition.

Clive -- Thanks for visiting my blog and for taking the time to look at my website. I suppose my love of my homeland comes through in those Tyneside paintings. I hope so anyway.

Congratulations - both for your work being featured in the magazine and also for the sale of the painting. Both well deserved.

Thank you very much, Bridget.
