Tram with Prickly Pear (Soller) (Oil on canvas, 24 x 24 ins.)
And there it is. When I stopped working last night I thought I would have to do just a little more today, but I find I'm satisfied with it the way it is.
I spent some time considering the shirt colours. In one of my source photographs they were white but I wanted them to be coloured. I finally settled on three tube colours I'd used throughout the rest of the painting.
Welcome to my blog. I'm a professional artist working in oil, acrylic and drawing. I'm still very much a figurative painter aiming at some kind of modern representation. I believe in the continuing value of painting and follow in its long and honourable tradition.

Very complex, and yet simple, too. This is a very pleasing and balanced piece - I think it will be a favorite.
I especially love the blue, pink and yellow shirts.

This is great, Harry. I really like the unexpected juxtaposition of the tram and cactus. And the cactus is wonderfully lush with color.
Thanks, Don. I really appreciate that.
