Perhaps because of my engineering background, I find it most interesting to see the development of these artworks over just a few days, particularly Hedgerow #1.
Do you have the eventual outcome in mind from the beginning, or is it a more organic process as the work progresses?
In many cases I have a fairly clear idea of where the work will end up and I simply move towards that. With these two, the hedges were uniformly brown/grey against a brown/grey field, the whole covered in layers of mud and dust from the road.
What I've had to do is both sort out the intricacies of the branches, adding and pruning as I went along, as well as develop a whole new colour palette for each of them. Where they end up will be as much a surprise to me as it will to anyone else.
Welcome to my blog. I'm a professional artist working in oil, acrylic and drawing. I'm still very much a figurative painter aiming at some kind of modern representation. I believe in the continuing value of painting and follow in its long and honourable tradition.

I like these Harry. Very nice indeed.
Thank you, John. I ought to have them finished today.
