A Week in Staithes (5)
Chimneys, Staithes (0.8 fine line marker in 21 x 26 cm sketchbook)
As the freezing wind ate away at my confidence to do work of any duration, I went back up the path I'd used the day before. This time, however, instead of concentrating on what lay across the valley I decided to draw what was closer to where I stood.
You might think that the lines in the background represent a cloudy sky, but they are, in fact, a basic delineation of part of Cowbar Nab, the grass-covered rocky outcrop to the west of Staithes. The Nab is covered in nesting seagulls, but at least one of them has settled on the smaller chimneys to the left.

Liking these a lot! That must be a wonderful place to sketch, even if it's cold...
(This time I checked to see if I could read the new almost unreadable security words...I had to click through three possibilities before I could leave a comment. Bet you'd get a lot MORE comments if it wasn't so hard!)
I'm glad you made it through this time, Cathy, and I'm so pleased you like the drawings.
Somehow the "word verification" had been switched on again. It shouldn't be there and I've disabled it again.
VERY glad to hear that, Harry! I don't know why they changed how the words appeared, but I'm finding them very difficult to read. I'm nearsighted, my husband is farsighted, and I called him in to see if he could read them...nope. And actually it took yet another try before I could manage it. Maddening!
I've said it elsewhere on this blog: I don't like what Blogger has done to the way this thing works. I was perfectly happy with it before, but Google (who own Blogger, of course) is hell bent on change in the name of "improvement". I don't like the new Gmail either.
I guess I've lucked out, no surprise changes on my many blogs--at least as it comes to security words (knock wood!) I did resist the new template for a while, but I got used to it. I know what you mean about the Gmail!
These things are sent to try us. I'm impressed by the number of blogs you're keeping up to date, by the way. I seem to struggle with two.
Not sure how up to date I am! Our Starving Artists in the Kitchen and my little Shed of Reality blog, not to mention my original Live Journal, are pretty quiet...
The group blogs are easier because I have help!
Nevertheless, I'm impressed with your juggling :0)
Shhh! I'm trying to overcome my workaholic tendencies. :-D
OK, mum's the word ;0)
I'm really enjoying how you capture "the now". Thanks for an insight to your part of the world.
Love the view across the rooftops!
I really like this series very much ... thanks for sharing! nancy
Sandra; Cathy, Nancy - thank you all.
