Farm in Langdale

Farm in Langdale (Oil on board, 16 x 16 ins.) S0LD

The Art Club's annual exhibition opens on Thursday, with the Preview tomorrow night. I wasn't sure what to put in, but this one which I worked on some time ago, fitted a frame. So this is my entry, after a little tweaking. The photograph is misleading, however, in that the blue shadow areas of the farm were made with Payne's grey and underpainting white, so are nowhere near as blue as they appear here.

If you're in the area, drop into the show at The Guildhall on Newcastle's Quayside. It runs until 28th December.

This has a nice feel to it a bit more impressionistic I think. Good feel to it!

Hi Harry
love the painting, it complies with my latest criteria for a good painting in that "it makes you feel slightly dizzy" well its got movement, and it draws the viewer in.

Bruce -- thanks for the good wishes.

Joy -- welcome to the blog and thanks for your kind comments.

Siomn -- welcome, too. I know what you mean about being drawn in. I stood looking at it from the other side of the gallery last night and was quite taken with what I'd achieved. That sounds a little arch, but I wasn't too aware of the effect when I was painting it.

OOoo - like this! The colour is so rich and gorgeous, the light so intense. Truly lovely.

I was really pleased with how this turned out, Lynne. Especially as most of it was the result of very fast work, using a palette knife and the remains of the paint on my palette (mixed up with some Spectragel).
