At last! These pictures done at the Art Club do seem to take a long time to complete. But in this case, I feel it was worth the wait; I'm well pleased with this one.
That is A CRACKER! A great capture of atmosphere. Takes me back to the harbour at Chania. Crete is the only place that I cried bitterly to leave as I went up the steps to the plane. I went back 5 times in the 80's. I'm almost afraid to go now in case it is badly tourist damaged.
I went to Crete 4 times in the Eighties and Nineties, and back again twice in the Noughties. I don't think it's been spoiled at all, at least outside of the already touristy places like Ag. Nik. There have been changes, not least in the evident prosperity of the locals, but then that's what the EU is meant to achieve. I still love it and would go back, especially to Chania, any time (although the painting is of Rethymnon's harbour).
I've got to say, this is one of my favourites of yours! Well done! Wonderful subject matter. It's got a great play of light and shadow and the colours just sing!
Welcome to my blog. I'm a professional artist working in oil, acrylic and drawing. I'm still very much a figurative painter aiming at some kind of modern representation. I believe in the continuing value of painting and follow in its long and honourable tradition.

Very nice. Makes me want to go to Crete.
Me too. I'd go to Crete anytime.
