Very First Sketchbook (#12)
Nafplio, 2.9.87
(Fine point and coloured markers in A5 sketchbook)
Moving on a year and onto the Greek mainland. Nafplio was briefly the capital of modern Greece following its liberation from the Ottoman Empire. I enjoyed my stay there which came at the end of a period of island hopping, but the trip was a difficult one for various reasons and I managed only this sketch.
I didn't much care for the coloured markers - I found the colours crude - and didn't use them again.

Well, you may not like the colors, but I think the study is very successful! nancy
Seeing them now in this digital form, I'm less condemnatory.
Markers seem to be a love/hate item. I personally get annoyed with watercolor markers but love my alcohol ones.
One problem with using them in sketchbooks is the bleed-through, of course, although if you accept that will happen, I guess you can cope with it.
I agree - this looks really good -quite atmospheric, at least in this digital form.

I had started to play around with it in Photoshop, adding further colour and like so, but it disappeared when the hard drive packed in. Tsk.
I seem to be having a struggle with my drawing tools too of late, but the drawing is excellent!
Thanks, Dan.
