Today brings the little postcard telling me my painting has not been accpted for the People Show. Not much to say about that. Disappointed, of course. But increasingly, I find I'm out of phase with what selectors want for this kind of show. Last year's prize winner - a crudely painted man smoking what appeared to be a large carrot - may be symptomatic of their direction.
Nothing to do but continue in my own furrow.

oh, that's too bad, but yes, we do just keep on doing our work!
Genius often goes unrecognised.
F 'em.
There's just no point in ever attempting to guess what "they" are looking for.
I've often submitted the same work to Nottingham Castle in the year subsequent to its rejection, only to have it accepted.
I think you're right in having the mindset that you do what you have to do, which is to create.
Phillistines.
Sorry to hear this! Persevere! What else can one do eh?!
Welcome Desiree, and thanks to you all for your support and encouragement.
