Hallo! and many happy returns! How nice to read a British blog ... the writing is so very English! No other nationality seems to have our quirky and ironic style!
My commiserations on this milestone you've just reached ... I reached a similar one a little while ago. I was not greatly enthusiastic.
And I too left a creaking monolith a while ago (the NHS) and have been painting for 7 years from the far away shores of New Zealand.
Thank you for signing up to join us at Art Blogs 4 U. Your details will be added very soon. Please let me have a longer Bio if you will ... I am sure that you are up to it!
And may I post one of your paintings as 'featured painting' in due course?
Thank you all for the birthday greetings. The age thing doesn't honestly bother me, it's just that I can't find any internal understanding for 60 = me.
And having lost someone precious when she was 34, I'm certainly aware of how lucky I am.
Lesly - I'll be in touch with a longer bio as soon as I can and, of course, I'd be delighted if you'd use one of my pictures as a feature.
Welcome to my blog. I'm a professional artist working in oil, acrylic and drawing. I'm still very much a figurative painter aiming at some kind of modern representation. I believe in the continuing value of painting and follow in its long and honourable tradition.

When you consider the alternative to reaching 60, then it really is a happy birthday indeed.
As Ian said about alternatives... happy happy birthday! and many many more!
